How to Set Up and Use Chromecast TecTalk

Chromecast is an easy streaming device that allows you to view content from your mobile device, computer, or tablet on your television set from any streaming application or google chrome browser. Chromecast devices are available at many electronic stores.

 

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

  1. First you need to make sure you have an accessible outlet to plug the device into while it is also plugged into the television set. It plugs into an HDMI input in your television set.

  2. When you change your television source to the HDMI the chromecast is connected to, press the button on the Chromecast and keep it pressed until the red light turns white.

  3. Get the Chromecast app on your device.

 

ANDROID PHONE OR TABLET

 

  1. Get the Chromecast app for Android.

  2. Launch app and select accept for the terms and conditions.

  3. Select your new Chromecast device and click “Set Up”

  4. Make sure your TV is on so you can see a code that matches a code on the app. If they match, click “I See the Code”

  5. Change the name of your new Chromecast at this point.

  6. Connect your Chromecast to your Wifi network by clicking “Set Network”

  7. Now you can use Chromecast from any streaming application, like Youtube, Netflix, Hulu, and Spotify!

 

iOS PHONE OR TABLET

 

  1. Get the Chromecast app for iPhone or iPad.

  2. Launch app and select accept for terms and conditions.

  3. Select your new Chromecast device and click “Set Up”

  4. Exit the Chromecast app togo to your iOS Settings

  5. Click on your Wifi settings and connect to “ChromecastXXXX”

  6. Go back to the Chromecast app. Click “Next”.

  7. Make sure your TV is on so you can see a code that matches a code on the app. If they match, click “I See the Code”

  8. Select Your Region. Click “Next”.

  9. Change the name of your new Chromecast at this point.

  10. Connect your Chromecast to your WiFi network. Click “Set Up”

  11. Now you can use Chromecast from any streaming application, like Youtube, Netflix, Hulu, and Spotify!


 

CHROMEBOOK

 

  1. Go to chromecast.com/setup from the Chrome browser on your computer.

  2. Make sure you install the latest Google Cast extension. To do this, download the Google Cast extension.

  3. Then, in the top right corner of your Chrome browser, you should see the “Cast” button that looks like this   

  4. Once you have the Google cast extension installed, go back to Chromecast.com/setup and click the link to “Set up from this Computer”. Google Chrome will now look for Chromecast devices that need to be set up.

  5. Click the device that matches the Chromecast name you see on your TV. It should look something like “ChromecastXXXX”. Click “Set Me Up”.

  6. Go to your Wi-Fi menu and select the Wi-Fi network that matches your Chromecast device name.

  7. Make sure you’ve successfully connected to the Wi-Fi network before moving to the next step. This can take a few minutes. Click “Next”.

  8. The code on your device should match the code on your TV. If it does, click “Yes”.

  9. If it doesn’t match, click No and restart the setup process from step 5 above.

  10. Change the name of your Chromecast by typing in a new name (ex. Living Room) or you can leave it as the default name. Choose your country. Click Looks Good.

  11. Choose your Wi-Fi network by clicking the upside down arrow. Enter your password. Click Connect.

  1. Go back to your Wi-Fi menu and choose your Wi-Fi network.Important:Make sure you’ve successfully connected to the Wi-Fi network before moving on to the next step. This can take a few minutes. Click Next.

  2. Once setup has successfully completed, you will see a blue banner that says “Let’s Start Casting!”

  3. Now you can use Chromecast from any streaming application, like Youtube, Netflix, Hulu, and Spotify!

 

WINDOWS COMPUTER

  1. Install the Chromecast app from Chrome Browser by going to chromecast.com/setup.

  2. Launch the Chromecast app to accept terms and conditions. Click “Accept”.

  3. Select your Chromecast from list of device. Click “Set Up”.

  4. To connect your Chromecast to your wireless network. Click “Continue”.

  5. Confirm the code on your computer matches the code on your TV. Click “That’s my code”.

  6. Select your WiFi network and enter your password. Click “Continue”.

MAC COMPUTER

  1. Make sure you're using the latest version of Google Chrome. Otherwise, update it.

  2. Go to chromecast.com/setup from the Chrome browser on your computer.

  3. Install the latest Google Cast extension. Then, in the top right corner of your Chrome browser, you should see the Cast button shown here.

  4. Once you have the Google cast extension installed, go back to Chromecast.com/setup and click the link to “Set up from this Computer”.

  5. Click the device that matches the Chromecast name you see on your TV. It will be something like “ChromecastXXXX”. Click “Set Me Up”.

  6. Go to your Wi-Fi menu and select the Wi-Fi network that matches your Chromecast device name. Make sure you’ve successfully connected to the Wi-Fi network before moving to the next step. Click “Next”.

  7. The code on your device should match the code on your TV. If it does, click “Yes”. If it doesn’t match, click “No” and restart the setup process from step 5.

  8. Name your Chromecast.
